YOUTH COORDINATOR
The Youth Coordinator will work closely with the Outreach Coordinator to build and maintain the Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS) program.

Position Tasks Include:
- Plan and administer two symposiums annually
- Facilitate post-symposium student project development
- Secure funding through grants and donations
- Expand program to reach more students across the greater Chicago region
Qualifications:
- Experienced in working with youth, specifically high school students
- Experienced in event, preferably conference, planning
- Organized and able to multi-task
- Able to follow through the various on-going and newly assigned tasks and work well under pressure
- Skilled in oral and written communications
- Friendly, outgoing, and possessing leadership skills

GRANT COORDINATOR
The Grant Coordinator will work with closely with the Outreach Coordinator and Executive Administration to successfully acquire government, organizational and foundation grants suitable for CAIR-Illinois.

Position Tasks Include:
- Prepare grant applications and proposal presentations
- Maintain sound knowledge and understanding CAIR-Illinois and its individual department projects
- Research grant-making organizations and acquire sound knowledge and understanding of the funding organization’s mission, programs, target population and strategic vision
- Compile, write and edit all grant applications; Conduct follow up communications with grant making organization during their review process in order to supply additional supportive material
- Prepare and submit all quarterly and/or annual reports, as required by each grant-making organization for each funded program
- Create marketing and communication tools for CAIR-Illinois, including direct mail pieces, newsletter and event scripting. Manage the editing process with graphic designer and the printing and mailing process with selected vendors
Qualifications:
- Organized, able to multi-task and follow through various on-going and newly assigned tasks
- Attentive to detail and skilled in oral and written communication as well as problem-solving
- Able to conduct extensive research
- Proficient with Windows XP and Microsoft Office

EVENT PLANNER
CAIR-Chicago is seeking a qualified Event Planner for our 2009 Annual Event. The Event Planner will head CAIR-Chicago’s Annual Fundraiser Committee as the Chairperson, and will work closely with CAIR-Chicago’s Operations Coordinator, Board, and staff. This position is compensated.
The Muslim community, sponsors, and guests will be invited to review CAIR-Chicago’s past year accomplishments and will be asked to support our future efforts to benefit the Muslim American community in Chicago. Applicants interested in serving the Muslim community as CAIR-Chicago’s 2009 Event Chairperson, please contact Azam Azeem at operations@cairchicago.org.
Position Tasks Include:
- Manage, develop, and execute planning for the 2009 Annual Fundraiser
- Meet with administrative staff and board to review event details and determine responsibilities
- Coordinate with sub-committee chairs to execute appropriate tasks as needed
- Act as CAIR-Chicago’s representative towards the Muslim community, vendors, and invitees
- Coordinate presentation of support materials (i.e. event programs, power point presentations)
- Schedule volunteers to assist with various event tasks (i.e. mailings, filings, special projects, etc.)
- Manage event budget
Qualifications:
- Experience in managing special events, preferably with a non-profit organization
- Able to provide time towards event planning on a weekly basis; must have a flexible schedule to meet time demands as they arise
- Experience in managing volunteers and coordinating committee tasks
- Able to work with the Muslim community to generate high levels of awareness and participation
- Possessng a means of transportation in order to run errands and meet with vendors and the Muslim community as needed
- Able to prioritize and follow through on various on-going and newly assigned tasks
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Skilled in oral and written communication as well as problem-solving
- Able to conduct extensive research and work independently

- The position is open immediately, and will require a six month commitment
- The event will take place February, 2009, in the Chicagoland area
- A stipend will be offered to the qualified candidate to cover personal expenses
