Government

• A Muslim man contacted CAIR-Chicago regarding a delay in obtaining citizenship. The man applied for citizenship, completed all the necessary requirements, but his application has not been adjudicated. CAIR-Chicago is incorporating this case into its Citizenship Delay Project.

Prison

• A Muslim inmate contacted CAIR-Chicago because he believes that the religious holidays and observances of Jewish and Christian prisoners are respected but that the Muslim prisoners' needs are not respected. He discovered this after Muslim prisoners requested halal food at least during the two Eid holy days, but was denied. CAIR-Chicago is investigating the matter and will have the inmate file the appropriate grievances.

Employment

• A Muslim woman complained of harassment by a manager at the bank in which she works. She has complained regarding the harassment to the company, but to no avail. CAIR-Chicago is investigating the woman’s complaint and will take whatever action it deems necessary to resolve the matter.

General

• A Muslim family complained of harassment by neighbors in their apartment building. The family states that neighbors have called the police and falsely accused them of vandalism and causing a disturbance. CAIR-Chicago has advised the family to involve the building management and is monitoring the situation closely.
