CAIR-Chicago's Executive Director Addresses the Media Regarding the Muhammad Salah Case
February 02, 2006
CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Yaser Tabbara participated in a local press conference at the Downtown Islamic Center in order to address the media regarding the pending Muhammad Salah case. The press conference was attended by major news outlets WBBM radio, the Chicago Tribune, and WGN's 9pm news program. Tabbara spoke about the conditions of Muhammad Salah's case and emphasized the damaging precedent that this case sets for American Muslims with regard to intra-community relations. Tabbara cited the instance of closed door secret evidence being used in this case as a "severe erosion of the civil rights of Americans," and pointed out that as a community, Muslims are the most likely to bear the burden of this unjust practice.
