New Jersey Attorney General to Investigate Indian IT Firm after "No Muslim Candidates" Recruiting Email

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation into Indian IT firm, Nityo Infotech after a complaint following an email from a Nityo recruiter specifying not to recruit Muslims, with the company later claiming the recruiter's email was hacked. Earlier this week, CAIR-Chicago issued a press release addressing the email.

In a statement, CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab said:

“'I was hacked’ is a typical response to being caught red-handed after hitting send. While it might be understandable that a company’s first reaction when presented with scandal is to save face, it is neither respectable nor acceptable. Instead, discriminatory practices must be acknowledged, confronted and weeded out completely. This email evidence must be properly investigated all the way to the top of the culture, preferably by a third party, and foundational fixes must be made to the problem if the company truly takes the scourge of blatant workplace discrimination with a degree of seriousness."
