Fighting for the Rights of Muslim Inmates

CAIR-Chicago Sends Demand Letter to IDC

CAIR-Chicago sent a letter on behalf of Muslim inmates in the Illinois Department of Corrections after reports that their religious needs were not being met during the month of Ramadan, which includes a monetary limit on commissary purchases, making acquiring food for breaking fasts more difficult.

Earlier this week, Deputy Director Sufyan Sohel spoke with Injustice Watch on the issue:

“We had issues in the past where sometimes a meal wouldn’t be given until two or three hours after sundown,” said Sohel.

CAIR-Chicago is active in the situation to ensure the rights of our incarcerated brothers and sisters are being granted.

Please support CAIR-Chicago's efforts to ensure that the rights of Muslim inmates are protected through our ongoing prison project.
