CAIR-Chicago to Hold Gender Justice Dialogue Panel
Since the first official Women’s History Month in 1987, the month of March has been continuously appointed as a time to celebrate women’s contributions to the United States and recognize their achievements in various areas over the course of American history. It is also a time to examine issues surrounding women’s rights and empowering girls and women to have full equity and representation, including civil rights, violence against women, reproductive rights, and solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
Despite the continued acknowledgement and development of women’s rights within the wider national consciousness, it is the union of and dynamic dialogues between diverse communities that uniquely progress such topics at large. With this in mind, a crucial question arises: Do interfaith approaches hold the potential for bringing about the social change desperately needed within the nation to promote and uphold women’s rights today?
Join us for a virtual event where members of different faith and cultural communities come together to contribute their unique outlooks and uplift marginalized voices. The two-hour panel will focus on a conversation of diverse perspectives regarding violence, advocacy, and healing with the aim to share and reflect on varying forms of advancing the rights of women and girls.
Panelists include:
Christèle Dupiellet - Toutes à l'école Luxembourg
Parveen Mundi - Dear Asian Youth
Luana Lienhart - DuPaul University
