CAIR-Chicago Celebrates Green Card Success Story Amidst Challenging Delays

We are thrilled to share a heartwarming success story with you. A community member, whom we value greatly, has successfully obtained a green card. This accomplishment comes after a long and challenging journey, which was made even more difficult due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The client's successful green card journey is a testament to the strength of community support and advocacy. CAIR-Chicago takes great pride in celebrating this achievement and reaffirms its dedication to helping individuals navigate complex immigration procedures.

CAIR-Chicago is committed to safeguarding civil rights, advocating for justice, and empowering the Muslim community. Regardless of their faith or background, CAIR-Chicago strives to protect the rights of every individual. Meet The Team

CAIR-Chicago is excited to announce the latest expansion of our team with appointment of two exceptional individuals to key roles. Please join us in welcoming Maggie Slavin as our new Operations manager and Bassam Arnaout as the Outreach Coordinator.

Maggie Slavin brings a wealth of experience in operational management and organizational efficiency. With her keen eye for detail and strategic mindset, she will play a crucial role in streamlining our processes and ensuring seamless operations for all our initiatives.

Bassam Arnaout’s dedication to community engagement and advocacy makes him a perfect fit for the Outreach Coordinator position. He will spearhead our efforts to foster meaningful connections with diverse communities, amplify our message, and promote mutual understanding.


  • Palestinian refugee from Syria contacted CAIR to seek political asylum.

  • A women contacted CAIR-Chicago for assistance with bringing her sister to America.

  • A man from Angola contracted us for immigration help.

  • A man contacted us regarding discrimination he experienced from an airline company.

  • A man contacted CAIR-Chicago regarding employment discrimination where he was disciplined for workplace violations that other non-Muslim employees had not been repremanded for.

  • Two individuals have contacted us requesting our assistance in applying for citizenship.

  • A community member reached out to CAIR-Chicago seeking help securing a zoning permit for a mosque. A man contacted us regarding discrimination by police.

  • Three men and one woman contacted us regarding renewals of their employment authorization.

  • An Afghan woman contacted us seeking asylum.


CAIR-Chicago Internship Program

Our internship program is now accepting applications for the fall term. If you are a student or recent graduate with a passion for civil rights advocacy, this is a great opportunity to work with our dedicated team. Please visit out website for more information on how to apply.

Join Our Outreach Team

Our Outreach Department aims to educate, foster understanding and build bridges between Muslims and the general public in the greater Chicagoland and the State of Illinois. Through such efforts, the department establishes mutually beneficial partnerships through educational and multicultural collaborations with local, state and national organizations and institutions. The department also bolsters CAIR-Chicago’s ability to serve constituents within Muslim communities. To this end, the Outreach Department leads CAIR-Chicago’s youth leadership initiative, internship and volunteer activist programs, interfaith and intercultural initiatives, educational seminars, and civic engagement efforts.

Operations Internship Opportunity

Interns will work directly with the Operations Coordinator on projects and tasks related to office operations, efficiency and sustainability. In order to ensure that the each intern, extern, and fellow’s experience is maximized, each Operations team member will be required to develop and train in the following core specialties:

  • Database Design

  • Donor Relations

  • Grant Research & Writing

  • Administrative Support
