CAIR-Chicago Meets with Congressman Danny Davis

CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Yaser Tabbara and Director of Communications Ahmed Rehab met with US Congressman Danny K. Davis to discuss issues relevant to his Muslim constituency. Dr. Danny Davis, representative for the 7th US congressional district, listened attentively as Tabbara & Rehab discussed the work of CAIR-Chicago. Congressman Davis concurred on the need for transnational Muslims (mostly from the Middle East & Soutwest Asia) & indigenous Muslims (mostly African-Americans) to reach out to each other. Tabbara & Rehab updated the congressman on CAIR-Chicago's efforts on that front & enlisted his support.

Congressman Davis renewed his commitment to the civil rights & human rights issues of great concern to American Muslims. CAIR-Chicago in collaboration with the Coalition for Civil Liberties of Illinois had previously organized a Patriot Act Press Conference at Congressman Davis' office at which the Congressman spoke of the problematic provisions in the Act. The two parties agreed to keep a mutual open door policy for swift and effective collaboration as future issues arise.
