WHAT - Amnesty International, Protestants for the Common Good, and the Justice Coalition of Greater Chicago present "Human Dignity Under Assault: The Use of Torture in the War on Terror". KEYNOTE SPEAKER - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-9th).
Panelists include Joseph Margulies, Trial Attorney - MacArthur Justice Center Lead counsel in Rasul v. Bush argued before the United States Supreme Court, and Maria LaHood, Staff Attorney - Center for Constitutional Rights.
To be followed by Interfaith Dialogue and a call to action to Join the Denounce Torture Campaign. This event is free and wheelchair Accessible.
Interfaith Dialogue will be moderated by The Rev. Jennifer Kottler, Deputy Director, Protestants for the Common Good. The interfaith dialogue participants include The Rev. Dr. Calvin Morris, Executive Director, Community Renewal Society; Ahmed Rehab, Communications Director, Council on American - Islamic Relations - Chicago and a (TBA) representative from the Jewish Faith tradition.
