CAIR Launches Islamophobia.org

This month, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) launched Islamophobia.org, a website dedicated to documenting and exposing groups, as well as individuals, promoting Islamophobia in the United States.

"Because of the avalanche of negative comments about Islam and Muslims that we see in our daily lives, any initiative that offers a positive and accurate portrayal of ordinary Muslims ... can have a positive impact,” national communications director, Ibrahim Hooper told Al Jazeera. “Unfortunately we are seeing a tremendous spike in anti-Muslim rhetoric. I think that the recent phenomenon can almost exclusively be tied to the ISIS issue.”

The website calls on users to submit tips about incidents, news article, social media postings, organizations, or other cases of Islamophobia. They also ask people to report examples of inclusivity and efforts to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialog, and work that promotes justice and mutual understanding.
