CAIR-Chicago's Post-Election Vigilance and Advocacy

Following the election, CAIR-Chicago commends the American Muslim community for its high voter turnout, despite widespread disillusionment. As our community continues to face challenges like hate crimes right here in Chicago, and internationally watch live the horrific attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, CAIR-Chicago calls for proactive measures to ensure safety and continue the fight for justice.

Vigilance and Safety

- Report Suspicious Activity: Stay alert to your surroundings and report any incidents of hate or discrimination to CAIR-Chicago or local authorities.

- Stay Informed and Connected: Connect with interfaith and advocacy groups to stay updated on emerging issues.

- Digital and Physical Safety: Secure your social media accounts and follow safe practices in public spaces, traveling with others when possible.

Commitment to Justice and Advocacy

CAIR-Chicago urges Democrats to heed the discontent within Muslim and marginalized communities, as evidenced by declining support for Vice President Harris over the administration's stance on Gaza. We call on President-Elect Trump to fulfill his campaign promise to pursue peace abroad, particularly by addressing the Gaza crisis with urgency and justice.

Ongoing Advocacy Priorities

- Protect Nonprofit Advocacy: We stand by nonprofits’ rights to engage in advocacy without fear of politically motivated investigations.

In his statement, Ahmed Rehab, CAIR-Chicago’s Executive Director, emphasized, "The Muslim vote is not guaranteed to any party. We expect elected leaders to address our community's urgent concerns and stand ready to hold them accountable. CAIR-Chicago remains dedicated to advocating for justice and safety for American Muslims and those globally impacted by U.S. policies."
