Muslim women athletes break stereotypes
The increase in Muslim women athletes, particularly those who wear the hijab help in breaking the stereotype placed on Muslim women, while also paving the way for other Muslim women to participate in sports they love.

Last December Illinois State Police made history by naming Mustapha the department's first and only Muslim chaplain. Sheikh Mustapha was one of seven ministers who went through chaplain orientation training in Springfield.

The artist is a Muslim graduate student at the School of the Art Institute. Anida Yoeu Ali said she was shocked to find someone painted caricatures and the words "kill all Arabs" on her work at 33 S. State St. "I feel that this act of violence is a way to try to silence me, to silence my work, to silence the people of whom I'm speaking for," Ali said.
The Council on American Islamic Relations calls the vandalism a hate crime.

Muslims who serve every day in the Illinois State Police deserve a chaplain of their own faith," said Ahmed Rehab, Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). "Our concern is that the Illinois State Police is kowtowing to articles online published by notorious anti-Muslims who have been in the business of smearing Muslim activists leaders and Imams for the longest time," said Rehab
"It is essentially guilt by association," said Christina Abraham.
