CAIR-Chicago, the Arab-American Action Network (AAAN), Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights, Chicago Movement for Palestinian Rights (CMPR), among other local organizations are holding a rally this Saturday in Daley Plaza to urge the community to voice their opposition to policies influenced by fear, Islamophobia, and prejudice.

North Shore Congressman Mark Kirk announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate on Monday, July 20. CAIR-Chicago Executive Director, Ahmed Rehab, and CAIR-Chicago interns joined the Illinois Coalition for Immigration and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) in a peaceful protest during the press conference held in Kenilworth.

After mass demonstrations by the immigrant and minority communities, the Senate passed its version of immigration reform legislation. The final vote, 62-36, came after several months of heated debate from both sides.

About 3,000 activists at a Saturday rally called for a unified effort for immigrant rights, including expanded education and labor opportunities, that transcends their diverse nationalities and religions.
