The Council on American-Islamic Relations-Chicago and the American Friends Service Committee present a special event created and organized by HumanThread, a Pilsen-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting peace and inspiring actions that build a just society. The 9/11 Primer will memorialize 9/11 and reaffirm the role of artists as peacemakers.

"The overlying mantra is that we belong here, this is our country, too," said Ahmed Rehab, the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations "That's something you do not through assertive statement, but assertive action."

Sharif will be speaking at the Interfaith Youth Core's 6th Annual Conference along with CAIR-Oklahoma's Executive Director Razi Hashmi. The theme of this year's conference is "Leadership For a Religiously Diverse World." Sharif and Hashmi will be leading a "Speed Faithing" session on Islam, which will share basic information on the religion and it 1.5 billion followers.
