Victor Davis Hanson implies in his column that liberals no longer care for people.

It is hard to understand how Richard Cohen does not see the significance of the reasons for an attack when considering the severity of the punishment (“Hate crime laws penalize speech and thought,” Aug. 22).

I would like to thank Leonard Pitts for his wonderful handling of comments such as those of Rep. Tom Tancredo that do nothing but incite fear and hate ("Inflammatory remarks feed the enemy," Commentary, Aug. 2).
