Urge Your Reps to Vote Yes on HB 3247 & HB 3593

Two critical bills MUST pass the Illinois House by April 11th! Please take 30 seconds to email your state representative to urge them to vote YES on these two bills, and push back against Trump's anti-immigrant agenda:

Safe Schools for All (HB 3247 - Rep. Jimenez / Sen. Villa) (partnering with MALDEF and Latino Policy Forum)

This bill protects access to public education for all in Illinois! The federal government has started a campaign targeting immigrant communities across the country. Illinois schools must protect the integrity of a positive school learning environment in which all children and parents feel safe and supported.

Improve the Fair Patient Billing Act (HB 3593 - Rep. Avelar / Sen. Fine)

Even if they have medical coverage, many people seeking medical services often receive large bills for services not covered by their insurance. This bill would require all medical service providers in not-for-profit hospitals to offer free and reduced cost care to low-income uninsured patients. Currently, hospitals are required to do this, but some providers are not part of the hospital system and do not have to offer these discounts. This bill will change that, and recognizes health care as a human right.
