Deputy Director Sohel speaks to Global Youth Ambassadors
Last week, 25 young ladies, high school students from Chicago and 11 Chicago sister cities, were hosted by Chicago Sister Cities International at their annual Global Youth Ambassadors Leadership Summit. The Summit provides a globally-immersive experience for leadership development, cross-cultural awareness and civic exchange while building relationships to last a lifetime. The girls experience Chicago with their peers, while engaging with Chicago’s business and civic leaders and participating in workshops, discussions and presentations on advocacy, activism and leadership. CAIR-Chicago's Sufyan Sohel spoke to them about his activism work.
Sohel talked about his work in advocacy and combating hate and discrimination targeted at communities. He spoke about how important it is for young leaders, no matter what country they are from, the engage in civic society and speaking out against injustice. Sohel reflected, “I was so inspired by these young ladies, whom at such a young age are working towards positive change in their communities. They gave me renewed faith in our future and look forward to see all the amazing things they each accomplish”.
