CAIR-Chicago Welcomes our New Staff Attorney!
CAIR-Chicago would like to introduce our new staff attorney, Tamer Y. Abouzeid!
Tamer Abouzeid serves as Staff Attorney at CAIR-Chicago. Tamer graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with a degree in marketing (2007) before receiving his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center (2015) and his Mediation Certificate from Northwestern University (2019). Tamer was an early communications and governmental-relations intern with a nascent CAIR-Chicago in 2005. During law school, Tamer was an intern with the United States Office of Special Counsel; a Summer Associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP, a large multinational law firm; a Global Teaching Fellow; and a Student Attorney representing low- and moderate-income clients. After graduating from law school, Tamer worked as an Associate at Shearman and Sterling with his practice focused on international arbitration and litigation. Most recently, Tamer worked as an investigator at the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, investigating allegations of misconduct against Chicago police officers. Tamer is also a member of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression as well as the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America, where he organizes in pursuit of community control of the police and the long-term goal of abolition of the prison-industrial complex.
