The Protester Shooter in Our Backyard

Salaam Alaykum,

As you have likely heard, last night in Kenosha, Wisconsin, an armed vigilante shot three and killed two protesters during unrest in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake, an unarmed Black man who was shot and paralyzed in the same city last weekend by police.

Just moments ago, we learned that the alleged shooter is 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse is reportedly from Antioch, Illinois.

CAIR-Chicago is alarmed, but not surprised, at the hate brewing and manifesting in our backyards. In less than a week, we've seen lives forever changed by police brutality and the anti-Black prejudice that is rampant within our communities.
