Press Release: CAIR-Chicago Condemns Anti-semitic Remarks Shouted at High School Soccer Game

(CHICAGO, IL, 5/31/23) - The Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago), a chapter of nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned antisemitic remarks reportedly shouted during a high school soccer game. 

Those antisemitic remarks were allegedly shouted during a game between St. Viator High School and Deerfield High on May 23 in Deerfield, IL., a community with a sizable Jewish population.

In a statement, CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab said:  

 "We condemn the use of hateful, antisemitic language at any public event. Such despicable remarks have no place in our society and go against the values of inclusivity, respect and dignity that we hold dear." 

 He said CAIR-Chicago stands in solidarity with the Jewish community and all those affected by hate and discrimination.  

 Rehab said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.      

 CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
