Charge Dismissed in Police Misconduct case

One count of assault against a Muslim limo driver was dismissed after CAIR-Chicago attorneys Heena Musabji and Rima Kaptian filed a motion to drop charges against the driver. The limo driver was arrested on May 7th after inquiring to officers about a parking ticket. The driver was beaten and taken to the police station where he was questioned by police. Despite repeated requests for an attorney, officers questioned the driver without allowing him to contact his attorney and further told the driver that he did not have the right to an attorney. Officers also accused the driver of being a terrorist and called the FBI to question the driver.

Police had filed 3 charges against the limo driver: 2 counts of assault and 1 count of interference with a police investigation. One count of assault has now been dropped.
