Good News Alert: Asylum Victory
(Chicago, IL, 5/2/2023) Good News Alert: CAIR-Chicago is excited to announce an asylum case success story from our civil rights department. Our attorneys worked diligently to represent a community member from Northern Africa after his asylum application was delayed for over seven (7) years, with no response from the Chicago Asylum Office. However, CAIR-Chicago stepped in and filed a Writ of Mandamus with the Northern District of Illinois, which led to the community member finally receiving an asylum interview.
"I am proud of the hard work our magnificent attorneys put in daily; these complex cases require expertise and hard work. Most of all, I am happy for our client, there is nothing like earning a new lease on life and looking forward to safety and prosperity after hardship and persecution. This work could not be possible without our community support, so our team thanks our wonderful supporters - after God without whom no success is possible"
With the assistance of CAIR-Chicago, a community member has successfully obtained asylum status, enabling them to apply for Lawful Permanent Resident status in the next year. Additionally, they can now travel outside the United States to reunite with their children, whom they last saw when leaving their country of origin.
CAIR-Chicago is the Chicago Chapter of America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Our mission is to defend civil rights, fight bigotry, and promote tolerance.
